Mizzou’s Michael Sam Put on Hendricks Award Watch List
Mizzou’s senior defensive end Michael Sam has been stacking up accolades this season. And he has been named to another national award’s watch list.
Sam has been selected to a mid-season list for the Hendricks Award, an honor given to college football’s best defensive lineman. Sam has achieved an incredible level of speed at the position. He’s also backed statistically as he leads the SEC in both sacks and tackles for loss.
In the 10 games that Mizzou has played this season, Sam has been instrumental in contributing to the team’s all-around success as the Missouri Tiger defense ranks in the top 10 in the nation in sacks, interceptions, turnovers gained and tackles for loss among other categories.
His contributions are a huge reason why Mizzou is 9-1 on the season with both SEC Championship hopes as well as BCS aspirations.
The Hendricks Award is named after Ted Hendricks, who became the first person to ever be named as a first team All-American three times in the late 1960s. Finalists for the Hendricks Award will be announced on Nov. 25. The winner will be announced on Dec. 11.
