#MizzouMade: Michael Scherer
Michael Scherer’s Mizzou Football teammates and coaches are much more than just fellow students to play with and leaders to guide him on the field — they‘re family, too.
“To me, being #MizzouMade means being part of a Mizzou family and carrying along the traditions and responsibilities that people have before me,” said Scherer, a redshirt sophomore from St. Louis.
“It’s something bigger than a football team,” he continued. “The coaches and everyone around here really care about you. It’s like having 100 brothers and 25 dads.”
Head coach Gary Pinkel takes pride in the big family dynamic of the Mizzou Football program. Throughout the year, Coach Pinkel has family dinners at his house, and when freshman players arrive on campus, they are assigned “big brothers.”
Scherer was a highly sought-after player out of high school; he was even ranked as the number 20 best prospect by ESPN for inside linebackers. In the 2013 season, Scherer played in all 14 games and recorded six tackles, four of which were solo.
Watch Scherer and the rest of his Mizzou Football family this Saturday, October 11 as they take on the Georgia Bulldogs at The ZOU. Kickoff is at 11:00 a.m. CT, and the game will be broadcast nationally on CBS.
Mizzou Football will post updates throughout the game on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Fans can also listen in via Tiger Network radio affiliates.
