Mizzou Football Offensive Play of the Week

,

Mizzou got the scoring started early on Saturday night when James Franklin connected with L’Damian Washington for a 26-yard touchdown on the Tigers’ fifth play from scrimmage.

Washington shook his defender on a double move to the inside and used his speed to create separation. Franklin hit him in stride before the safety could rotate over to help. The perfectly executed pitch and catch for six resulted in the first of six consecutive scoring drives to start the game for the Tigers, helping them cruise to a 51-28 rout in their SEC opener.

The touchdown grab was Washington’s fourth on the year, which is a career high. He finished the day with three receptions for 86 yards and scored Mizzou’s final touchdown on a 45-yard bomb in the fourth quarter to put an exclamation point on the victory.
