Mizzou Football Offensive Play of the Week
James Franklin and Dorial Green-Beckham connected for a huge 41-yard completion in the second quarter of Mizzou’s impressive 45-28 victory over Indiana on Saturday. Not only did the play give the Tigers a much-needed punch after the Hoosiers tied the game at 14, but it also earned the quarterback-wide receiver duo the Mizzou Offensive Play of the Week award.
After the Tigers got out to a14-0 lead, Indiana scored 14 unanswered points and appeared to have momentum on their side. Knowing he needed to respond, Beckham sprinted past his defender on a seam route on second and eight, and Franklin threw a perfect ball that dropped in his hands in stride.
The flawlessly executed pitch and catch put the Tigers on the Indiana 32-yard line and gave them momentum that they wouldn’t relinquish. Five plays later, Franklin punched it in from a yard out, giving Mizzou the lead for good.
With the win, the Tigers are off to their first 3-0 start since 2010, the year they beat No. 1 Oklahoma en route to a 10-3 season and a Big XII North Division title.
