Mizzou will break out their gold jerseys and alternate matte black helmets on Saturday when they take on Florida in the annual gold rush game. These aren’t the Tigers’ typical uniforms though. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a touch of pink will be added to the Mizzou black and gold.
The players will be wearing pink Nike socks, gloves and sweatbands. On the sweatbands, Nike has stitched the words “dedicated to” in order to take the tribute one step further. This is where players can write the name of a loved one. There is also a pink ribbon, the international symbol of breast cancer awareness, on the back of the helmet.
On the sidelines, Gary Pinkel will be rocking pink Nike shoes to compliment his usual visor, as will the rest of the Mizzou coaching staff.
The pink gear will raise awareness and money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A few items will be auctioned off next week on MUTigers.com
Make sure you arrive early and decked out in gold for the 11:21 a.m. kickoff at the ZOU.
