Mizzou Football Defensive Play of the Week

Kentrell Brothers’s interception at the Vanderbilt 28-yard line in the first quarter of Mizzou’s 51-28 romp in Nashville extended the Tiger defense’s national-best streak of consecutive games with a turnover to 35.

The pick was Brothers’s second on the year and led to a James Franklin touchdown pass on the next play. On the season, Mizzou has 11 interceptions, which is the second highest total in the nation.

The Tigers ball-hawking defense has picked off at least one pass in every game this season, with two being returned for touchdowns. Three others have led to scores on Mizzou’s ensuing possession, and two have occurred in the red-zone and have taken potential points off the board for the opposition.

The playmaking defense is a big reason why Mizzou is off to its best start since 2010.
