Mizzou Football Defensive Play of the Week
The play starts off with Georgia having its tight end matched up on Mizzou defensive end Shane Ray. Ray puts a shimmy move on Lynch, blasts right past him and rocks Georgia’s quarterback from behind.
On the other side of the play, Georgia’s right tackle keeps Michael Sam—who’s ranked No. 4 in the nation in sacks before this game—at bay. Only problem is that Sam doesn’t quit on the play, and when Ray knocks the ball loose from the Georgia quarterback, an alert Sam is there and reacts quickly to the fumble.
Georgia’s tight end sees this and attempts to try and reconcile his blown assignment by taking a sharp angle on Sam, but it is to no avail. The speed of both Mizzou defensive ends was too much for the blocking unit of Georgia, and Sam sails into the end zone for the touchdown that Tiger fans will remember for years to come.
