Mizzou Football Defensive Play of the Week

It’s no surprise that this week’s Defensive Play of the Week goes to Kony Ealy for his ultra-athletic pick-six with 2:03 left in the first half of Mizzou’s dominating 45-28 win over Indiana.

The 275-pound junior defensive end got past his blocker, read the eyes of Indiana’s quarterback and leapt up to snag his pass out of the air. He then took it 49 yards the other way to the house.

Kony’s top-ten worthy interception changed the game and gave Mizzou the boost it needed to roll over the Hoosiers.

“It changed momentum going into the half,” Ealy said. “The crowd got out of the game for a little bit there and that kind of gave some momentum to our offense to get out and just run the ball and try to score on them.”

This was the second interception returned for a touchdown by a Mizzou defensive lineman this season. Markus Golden picked off Toledo’s quarterback in week two and sprinted 70 yards for a score. Both Ealy and Golden were named SEC Defensive Line Player of the Week for their efforts.
