2015 Citrus Bowl Champs Visit the Missouri State Capitol

defending Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl Champions visited the Missouri State Capitol on Tuesday, February 24, 2015. The Mizzou Football Family and Head Coach Gary Pinkel were honored for their accomplishments this past season, when the Tigers went 11-3 and took another trip to Atlanta as the back-to-back SEC East Division Champions.

Chants of MIZ-ZOU filled the halls of the Missouri State Capitol as the Mizzou Football team was escorted around the building and stopped to sign autographs. Governor Jay Nixon asked, “Who on this team is the least likely to be governor of their home state, but you think they could be?” Pinkel and the rest of the team responded “Maty Mauk” immediately. Mauk, smiling from the big chair, promptly hired Evan Boehm as his center.

Mizzou Football takes pride in representing the University of Missouri as well as the state of Missouri, and Senator Kurt Schaefer told the team how proud he is of Mizzou Football and Pinkel.

“You guys are just doing such a fantastic job of representing the state of Missouri and I can’t thank you and your coach enough for everything you have done,” Schaefer said. “We couldn’t be more proud.”

Mizzou Football will be back in action at the 2015 Black and Gold Spring Game at 4 p.m. April 18 at the ZOU. Follow Mizzou Football on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook for information about the Black & Gold Spring Game and other activities in the offseason.
