2013 Mizzou Football Team Captains Announced

At the start of every football season, members of the Mizzou Football Team vote on their team captains for the year. The Official 2013 Mizzou Football Team Captains are: L’Damian Washington, James Franklin, EJ Gaines and Andrew Wilson. The captains are excited to lead the team throughout the 2013-2014 season.

 

L’Damian Washington

Class: RS SR

Hometown: Shreveport, LA

Height / Weight: 6-4 / 200

Position: Wide Receiver

Experience: 3L

Major: Psychology

Washington received 2nd-Team Academic All-Big 12 in 2010. In the 2012 season he started all 12 games. He enters the season with 50 career catches for 842 yards and 5 touchdowns, and needs just 158 more yards to reach the 1,000-yard mark.

 

James Franklin

Class: SR

Hometown: Corinth, Texas

Height / Weight: 6-2 / 230

Position: Quarterback

Experience: 2L

Major: Communication

In 2011, Franklin won the Independence Bowl Offensive MVP, 2nd Team Academic All-Big 12 and Team Underclassman Leadership Award. Franklin obtained many injuries throughout the 2012 season, however he is healthy and looking forward to getting back into the game. Franklin is one of 34 quarterbacks on the 2013 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award watch list.

 

EJ Gaines

Class: SR

Hometown: Independence, MO

Height / Weight: 5-10 / 195

Position: Defensive Back

Experience: 3L

Major: Hospitality Management

In 2011, Gaines won All-Big 12 first team and Big 12 Player of the Week (Oct. 31). Gaines won Team Cornerback in both 2011 and 2012. In 2012, Gaines also won Team KC Player of the Year. Gaines will be a third-year starter on the team. Gaines ended the 2012 season with a career-high 74 tackles. Gaines is on the Bednarik Award watch list for the 2013-2014 season.

 

Andrew Wilson

Class: RS SR

Hometown: Peculiar, MO

Height / Weight: 6-3 / 225

Position: Linebacker

Experience: 3L

Major: Business Administration

In 2010, 2011 and 2012, Wilson won the Team Hammer Award. In 2011, Wilson won Spring Team Most Improved Linebacker, Independence Bowl Defensive MVP, 2nd Team All-Big 12 and 2nd Team Academic All-Big 12. Last season he took home the Team Underclassman Leadership Award as well as earned a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll. Wilson has led Mizzou in tackles the last two seasons.
